My husband and I and our new son Tyler live on 80 acres. The farm we live on is a century farm, which means that it has been in the same family for over 100 years. It has not always been a horse farm (in the making), my husband previously owned hogs and cattle, and crop farmed. So we have a lot of work ahead of us to make it what we want it to be. New fences, new stalls and just general clean-up. We are putting all of our hearts and souls into these Morgans.
We are located in rural Grinnell, IA. Which is about 45 minutes East of Des Moines and 45 minutes West of Iowa City.
Myself (Amanda) was raised with Quarter Horses, my husband Ben has always had a soft spot for Morgans that extended from his grandfather. His grandfather had a pair of Morgan cross work horses. He always said how great those horses were. So my husband decided to make that soft spot a reality. He bought his first Morgan (LA Francine) in 1998. So the dream began and is still growing and developing.
In the picture above you can see our current house and relatives; this photo was taken in 1888. The horse you see there actually is Morgan/Draft cross named Jewel. So even though we have not have Morgans all the time, they have always held a special place in Pearce’s hearts, for their versatility and intelligence.
